Halfway Through
You build these walls for me to climb,
A billion walls, one at a time.
You hide behind your creeping thyme,
To misapply, and regret a rhyme.
And though I fight your nonstop plight,
These words of spite you spit tonight,
False realizations come to light,
That you ignite with quite a sight.
Although I say "Alright, good night, it's all a dream.
This stage fright you see is but a scheme,
To take you from this melodic theme,
To a world of hate and conspiracy."
"Don't believe their words, all cruely perturbed,
Stirred and blurred by the theatre of the absurd."
But you took their err, word for word,
And though misheard, you seem a flightless bird.
I try to scream, get into view,
To tear apart, to cut in two,
These worries that have, tried and true,
Eaten away and broken through.
I only hear a swinging door,
Another battle to cry to in this self-war,
Keep on asking, "What's this for?"
Tell myself, "You failing whore."
Blood rain still stains your ball and chain,
And you remain insane, to die away.
I'd rather be slain than see you in pain,
But I just can't explain every morning's bane.
I promise one day you'll live without scorn.
You'll look in the mirror, no reason to mourn.
And I'll keep you together, no matter how torn.
I'll keep you safe,
This I have sworn.
